This programme is to "offer companies a customized, tailored approach to sponsorship within the organization. Sponsorship packages will allow companies to bundle ISA’s products and services with marketing opportunities, resulting in a more streamlined approach to corporate support."
Further down in the release are the words "ISA is working with world-renowned sponsorship organization IEG to analyze its assets, evaluate sponsor needs, and develop strategies for increasing sponsorship’s return on investment (ROI)."
I am wondering how much this cost and who approved it. I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing but is it an expense that doesn't enhance the Society. Yes! It may increase our exposure but will it grow the society and its influence?
I think that we must grow the Society itself, following from that its influence will grow and then the rest will take care of itself whether or not we employ the services of organisations like IEG or not.
It's interesting to read Don Frey's "Changes at ISA - A Current Volunteer Leader's Perspective" and contrast with this development. Don makes the following point (correctly, in my opinion): " Gone are the days of significant corporate support for our Members, and the support of suppliers within our industry through participation in trade shows and advertising in our journals." Yet, ISA seems to be spending its time and money in precisely this area.
